Picture of the Day - May 3

Untitled

This photo shows the riverbank and pipe that diverts the Assi creek water from entering into the Ganges river at Ravidas ghat. The creek water is pumped by generator through this pipe several kilometers south of Varanasi where it is used to irrigate fields. Shortly after this photo was taken in, the pipe was installed underground. Visible on the right side of the photo is bamboo scaffolding attached to the side of the building which houses the generators.

Untitled

This photo shows the water catchment tank being built. As water enters into it, a strainer catches trash. The water is then pumped by generator power (not pictured).
